Candle Holders Steel, 2026

Designed objects are largely created for mass consumption, purchased for their convenience and isolated by their identity as a functional product, often for tasks that are already solved. Consumption is also often tied to identity and self-fulfillment, in which consumers may define themselves through what they buy and surround themselves with. These objects become possessions1, kept for personal significance beyond intended function.

If function and aesthetics are forms of communication, can exaggeration create awareness or instead worsen passive consumption?

PROCESS BOOK

Through parafunctionality, the bookmark is both hyperfunctional and useless.
The typology of a stand signifies importance and asks what is really meaningful necessary. Ultimately a projection of my my own ‘falsafeh’ or intellectual and social pretentiousness, the Bookmark resulted from my exhaustion with excess, the system it comes from, and the need to make without constant justification.
